When in Cartagena….

Learn Spanish: There are a few different Spanish language schools in Cartagena. I have personal experience with Centro Catalina and can highly recommend them–they have group and individual classes as well as activities. They are located in the San Diego section, conveniently one of the closest schools to the apartments!

Learn Salsa & more: Group & private classes in Salsa, Merengue, Vallenato, Cumbia, and more are available at a number of places, including Crazy Salsa, a long time favorite school in the Old City.

SCUBA: Paraiso Dive Cartagena offers a variety of diving excursions & courses and the staff are completely bilingual, not to mention nice & fun! This dive company also supports the environment & local community; read more here.

Volunteer for a day or longer with Fundación Amigos del Mar at workshops for kids on the island of Tierra Bomba, teaching kids to surf on Tierra Bomba or in Laguito, and occasional beach cleanups. Contact in English or Spanish: info@amigosdelmar.org.
